Buy Less, Buy Better
These links show some of my favourite brands that for me add atmosphere and joy into my life. I now buy less, but save for things I really love so view them as investments or heirlooms of the future. This section will be updated and added to regularly.
on myWEEKEND wardrobe radar for autumn
A well curated weekend wardrobe will stay with you for years to come. I favour classic colours and shapes that can dressed down or dressed up to suit the occasion with different shoes or accessories. My favourite outfits include wide leg knitted trousers and soft cashmere sweaters, paired with stylish trainers, and classic outerwear that works as hard in the country as the city. With so many of us working more at home these investment pieces will also bolster your working wardrobe look. With the weather definitely on the turn, I hope these edits inspire.
on my capsule work wardrobe radar for autumn
I am a great believer in the power of a capsule wardrobe that evolves year after year. As with our home I favour a monochrome/earthy palette, and the same is true of my wardrobe choices. Keeping a palette within a restricted range of colours, helps me make more discerning purchases and ensures new and old works together, and stands the test of time. Some of favourite places to shop include By Malene Birger, Max Mara, Matches Fashion, and Wyse London. Mixed with high street favourites from Arket, Cos, M&S and The White Company. This is the best time of year to find the few pieces to add to your existing collections and I hope these curated edits inspire.
Astier de villate favourites
I have been collecting Astier de Villatte ceramics since I took my daughter on a trip to Paris 10 years ago. Their exquisite, tiny shop on the Rue St Honoré is something to behold and the quality of the craftmanship in these handmade artisanal pieces makes them joyous to use. Pieces that really do enhance the everyday. They are investments but stand the test of time and one day will become heirloom treasures to be handed down.
I am obsessed with scented candles and like the ritual of lighting them throughout the day and evening to add atmosphere, and to scent our home with favourite smells. I am always testing new ones but my go-to favourites are from Astier de Villatte, Byredo, Cire Trudon, Diptyque, Le Labo and Moro Dabron. They are more expensive than high street equivalents, but they burn well and the scent lingers, so for me worth the investment.
